1. Who we are

VEIL ("the app", "we", "us") is a privacy-focused photo metadata cleaner for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is processed, and what choices you have.

2. Data we collect

We do not collect any personal data. Specifically, VEIL does not:

• Create or require user accounts.
• Send your photos, metadata, or any usage data to our servers.
• Use third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
• Read photos you have not explicitly selected through the system photo picker.
• Access your contacts, location, microphone, camera, or other sensors.

3. Photos and metadata

When you tap "Import Photos", VEIL uses Apple's PhotoKit / PhotosUI to let you choose specific images from your photo library. The selected photos are processed locally on your device using Apple's built-in ImageIO framework. The cleaned copy is saved back to your photo library — typically in an album named "VEIL Cleaned" — using the NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription permission. Your original photos are never modified.

Photos, metadata, thumbnails, and history records remain on your device at all times. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party.

4. Subscriptions and payments

VEIL offers an optional paid subscription ("VEIL Pro") with a 7-day free trial, processed by Apple via StoreKit. We do not see, store, or process your payment details. Apple's Privacy Policy governs payment handling. Subscription receipts are validated on-device.

5. Permissions we request

• Photo Library (read): to let you pick photos you want to clean.
• Photo Library (add): to save the cleaned copy to your library.

Both prompts are issued by iOS and can be changed at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → VEIL.

6. Children's privacy

VEIL is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected, no data about children is collected either.

7. International users

Because all processing happens on your device, no cross-border data transfer occurs. The app works identically in all regions.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws, you have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. You can remove all VEIL data from your device at any time by deleting the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surfaced inside the app.

1. The app

VEIL ("the app") is an iOS application that removes hidden metadata from photos selected by the user. All processing happens on-device. The app is provided to you under a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Standard EULA.

2. Subscriptions (VEIL Pro)

VEIL offers an optional auto-renewable subscription called VEIL Pro, which unlocks unlimited cleans, batch processing, all presets, custom presets, and full history.

Subscription details

• Title: VEIL Pro
• Length: auto-renewing monthly or annual term, as shown on the in-app purchase screen.
• Price: the price displayed on the in-app purchase screen for your region, in your local currency.
• Free trial: a 7-day free trial may be offered to eligible new subscribers. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription will auto-renew at the displayed price.

Billing and renewal

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the chosen plan.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions) after purchase.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.

3. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled through Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not issue refunds directly.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where permitted by law.
• Use the app to violate the rights of others or any applicable law.
• Use the app to process photos you do not have the right to process.

5. Disclaimer

VEIL is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. While VEIL aims to remove standard metadata fields, no metadata-stripping tool can guarantee removal of every possible identifier embedded by every camera, app, or platform. You should always review images before sharing.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VEIL and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.

9. Trademark

"VEIL", the VEIL logo, the VEIL wordmark, and all related product names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of the VEIL developer. All rights reserved.

You may not use the VEIL name, logo, or other brand assets without prior written permission, except for nominative fair use (for example, accurately referring to the app in editorial, review, or compatibility contexts) provided you do not imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation.

"Apple", "iPhone", "iPad", "iOS", "iPadOS", "App Store", "StoreKit", and related marks are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. All other trademarks, service marks, and trade names referenced in the app or in this document are the property of their respective owners.
